Survive and Live

"Fear of truth, empathy, and justice fuels the abuse of power. But it is said that humanity's strength, which goes hand in hand with reason and empathy, can overcome any violence and generally prevails over time. However, this does not always mean that, as sometimes it can also foster frustration, disappointment, and despair within humanity itself. Calling for dignity and justice, out of learned hatred and the irrational ambition and greed displayed, may be presented as something wrong, but deep down, every human being, no matter how petty, no matter how stupid or ingenious they may wish to be, knows better. And that, on the contrary, accepting it, succumbing to hatred, greed, and that selfishness that takes precedence over common freedom, over the cooperation that has allowed humanity to survive and live, is what is wrong.  So, will those who wish to be part of the written stories, or rather, to be among those who ensure that other true stories can be told, do something?  In truth, you couldn't even see the opposite facade, even though it was just about 5 meters away in this city, a city that blends across time. In the distance, the sound of an oboe played as this October morning unfolded, when one wished their mind would finally be blank, faced with everything they had tried to process the night before. And all that thinking and reasoning, for what? Acceptance, to survive and live, so to speak, was something that surpassed even common sense. In reality, it was more a question of survival than life, despite the orgasms, the laughter, the tears... yes, especially those. Because humiliation itself is not about life, but about survival. Not only did he know it. Everyone knew it, but no one dared to reveal their unworthiness and dishonor. And by making it visible, he aimed accusing fingers at anyone who dared to uncover the truth, a cruel, awful, but ultimately unbearable truth.

It's no surprise that the desire for power or hatred toward others leads to the loss of dignity and betrayal. But having followers who oppose everyone for their own selfish interests seems pointless. How can they see themselves represented, even in their innermost selfishness, by those who are against everyone, for themselves? The question itself is confusing, and perhaps it is the excess of complexity and the lack of simplicity that prevents a human being from thinking beyond their momentary emotions, like someone seeking that orgasm, that ejaculation, and not the perseverance of love, tranquility, and yes, even passion and excitement itself. So, what will humans do who, without being victims, in their apathy, become accomplices of abuse leading to the destruction not only of this civilization, but of any possible civilization? It had taken him longer than he had planned to start writing, but doing it again from his place in the mountains, after having survived a severe flu that hadn't attacked him for a long time and also, everything that reality had in store for him day after day when he decided to live for the survival of others, made it special and even worth remembering for future generations, because yes, thanks to him there would be. His name had already begun to become public knowledge, to the annoyance of many, and that afternoon was one of the last he would be without some protection. That other part of humanity, which saw actual human value in the strength of reason, not the power of violence, had begun to protect him. Of course, among those who didn't even care about a legacy, they saw him as a danger. And they didn't understand how, despite everything they had done, people like him still existed, imperfect and transcendent. But not tyrants.

Humanity itself is supposed to have overcome its selfishness, naivety, and stupidity. But its own arrogance is what has, to a certain extent, prevented this overcoming. Or at least that's what it seems, based on what those powerful in violence, not in reason, and much less in humanity itself (although it may seem contradictory), demonstrate. Also by those who, in theory, having the possibility of criticism, by bowing their heads and shamelessly accepting the power of violence over the strength and courage of reason (and of humanity itself), would make everyone understand: Well, it's survival, not life, that matters. Not even dignity. Perhaps it is the persistence of old models, but within that perhaps, it is then when, as humanity, the question becomes the answer. It is that a new paradigm is simply required, which leads not only to the urgent construction of a new basis for civilization, but also to the acceptance of the failure of the system and also of the need to understand the diversity and the best of each of those parts of humanity, for global well-being. He never thought he'd see her at that point in Presidio, in San Francisco, after so much time. However, she agreed to walk with him; they were both alone. The last time they did so was a long time ago, and they were still holding hands, perhaps envisioning a future together, but never what came next. -You know, Lila, you set the bar too high. He said as he watched the Golden Gate Bridge appear through the fog and the trees. She just raised her eyebrows, saying nothing. She just waited for him to continue. -Yes, I don't think I've ever felt so loved and so hated as I did by you. So desired and so despised... And in that contradiction, I understood what true love was, not hate. So I stayed with your love. Finally, she told herself, her eyes watering, she'd heard something new from him. It was late, but it was happening.

Despite what one might wish to teach, it is not only a matter of survival, but of life. It is not violence that triumphs, but the power of reason, along with compassion itself. And if one believes that this has not been the case, then humanity itself will be able to change that paradigm and create another, which, while it can be proven that it has not been different, even in recent history, in which cooperation and justice triumph for well-being and life. But it depends on the strength of the human groups that organize and mobilize and on how freedom and dignity are shared so that they are guaranteed to every citizen. But citizens? No, on every human being and their responsibility to all living beings, first and foremost, on this planet. -I'll never forgive you for making me cry. She told him, her voice still unbroken as she calmly sipped a sip of water. However, she continued, as he watched her in silence, in that silence that gave him calm and that she had lost when she decided to leave him, - I'll never forgive myself for crying because of you because of me. At that moment, her voice broke, and she couldn't take another sip of water. She couldn't maintain her frivolity, nor prevent a tear from falling from her eyes. So many years had passed, and she regretted it, regretted so much that this chance encounter could only be the fruit of what many called destiny and others simply magic in the history of humanity. He remained silent; she didn't raise her eyes to look at him. He respectfully and fearfully took her hands. Even in that silence, he still held that warmth of years past; she didn't understand why he didn't seem to age. She expected something, for the worse, a smile of satisfaction that would never come from him, despite how cynical he could be sometimes, but not in front of her, not for her, nor would he try to say anything. The time for him to say anything had passed, a long time ago."
